Abstract:An overview of multiple outages of high profile services I have owned. I will talk through high level design of the services and the reasons of the outage.
Bio:I have worked as a software developer, development lead at Microsoft for the last 14 years, with the last 9 years at Xbox Live. Most recently, I have joined Amazon as a Senior Manager in the AWS App Store team. My focus has mostly been in large scale customer facing services. (Btw, we’re hiring, so let’s chat if interested)

Things in the Cloud: The Economics of connected products to the cloud
Paul Hammann, Founder and CEO, Ombitron
Abstract:This talk will provide an overview of the Internet of Things and the economics of bringing a new connected product to market.
Bioaul is the founder and CEO of Ombitron, a Seattle-based company developing a platform for the Internet of Things. Ombitron was founded out of Paul’s frustration with how expensive and time consuming it was to build new connected products for the Internet of Things. Previously, Paul has worked exclusively for early stage, high scale, Internet startups. He is expert at growing network operations from scratch into scalable multi-country deployments. Some companies he has helped scale include Powerset, Tellme Networks, and Hotmail; all had successful exits as Microsoft acquisitions.

Kazeroonian, Senior Manager, AmazonAbstract:I will be talking about mobile developer services, with some specific examples around services for identity and for monetization.Bio:Ali leads the engineering for an Amazon initiative to build services for selling branded merchandize from mobile apps and games. Prior to Amazon, Ali cofounded three companies in the Bay Area, including Active Decisions, one of the first shopping recommendation engines. Bio:Steve Tegeler has worked in IT in the Seattle area for nearly 18 years. Most recently he has been involved in the transformational technology space of Network Virtualization & SDN working for the startup Nicira which was acquired by VMware in 2012. He manages a team of presales technical specialists for the NSX network virtualization platform and also VMware Integrated OpenStack.
